St. John: Day 1 - Getting There

One thing about St. John... it takes forever to get there! We left at 10:30pm on Monday and arrived at our house in St. John around 7:30pm the next day. The kids were troopers as usual despite not getting much rest. They are pretty experienced travelers at this point.

Michelle of course can sleep anywhere.

Like mother like daughter

Once we arrive in St. Thomas, we rent a car and then drive it to the other side of the island and catch a Car Ferry. This take us to St. John where we then drive to the other side of that island to our home. The picture below was taken from the deck of the ferry looking at St. John. This island is about 6 miles wide and 10 miles across.

Below is the view we were welcomed to at our rental house. Johnson Bay is full of little boats and sail boats to watch. The water is very calm because of the large sand bar a little ways out that shelters the bay from the big ocean currents.

It was nearly dark, but the pool deck was really nice with lots of room to BBQ, swim and sit and enjoy the view.

There is also a private beach behind the house and then another beach behind the shrubs that exits to the ocean.
